John Ford: On why he's against the Hospital Tax Recall petition

Mr. Ford says we are going to have to pay for 'this theft' . . . and the money will have to come from somewhere, and says, 'The generation before mine would have been warming up the tar and plucking feathers, but we now live in a civilized society, where we now do and say nothing to those that cause us harm.'

By John Ford
His personal commentary

Time for another empassioned rant about the state of the union.

This petition to recall the hospital tax, although a good idea, will in the end come to naught.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for the desire of Mrs Pike and her friends to effect community change through the use of civil petition to her government.

What I am not in favor of is people wasting their time with this particular idea.

Where do they propose that the money comes from?

Should we cut out services, fire people?

You tell me. You can't just say I don't want to pay and leave it at that.

Not only are we going to have to pay for this theft, but now we can no longer afford to pay to keep the hospital afloat.

The money for this crime will have to come from somewhere.

No one wants to pay more taxes, but guess what you ARE going to one way or the other.

The generation before mine would have been warming up the tar and plucking feathers, but we now live in a civilized society, where we now do and say nothing to those that cause us harm.

Well I had better go to work, I guess I will have to work about an extra hour every day for the next thirty years to pay my share of this. Uh, that may be an exaggeration also. --John Ford Comments re article 53738 Setting up another Hospital Tax Recall signing for Fri and Sat
