By Diane Hall
News from the Greensburg Arts Council

The Greensburg Arts Council will sponsor a Historytelling session on Friday, August 17, at 6pmCT, at the Old Train Depot, 114 Depot Street, Greensburg, KY, across the Foot Bridge from Downtown Greensburg. This session will focus on a "General Discussion about Greensburg," with featured speakers George Robert Cook and George Dangerfield. These speakers will provide much historic, relevant, rare, and interesting information about the good old days. All are invited to come and share your thoughts, memories and questions.

One of the goals of the Arts Council is to continue to preserve the history of Green County and the plan is to host future Historytelling events. In 2009, the Arts Council sponsored 15 Historytelling sessions. Five of these sessions are available on DVD: Trains and the Greensburg L&N Depot (2 DVD set), The Oil Boom (2 DVD set), The Paul Ennis Story (single DVD), Green County's Black Community (single DVD), and Farming, Raising Tobacco and Hog Killing (single DVD). DVDs may be purchased at the Kentucky Market House, 115 S. Main, Greensburg, KY, for $10 (single DVD), $15 (2 DVD set) or a complete set of 5 titles (7 DVDs) for $55. - Diane Hall
