City of Columbia is taking private donations for Flag Fund

First list of donations includes money for replacement of 30 flags. Approximately 120 flags are flown on Columbia City Streets, currently
Donations of $25 per flag are requested: Donations may be made at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, or by mail to: Flag Fund, c/o Rhonda Loy, City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY 42728

Columbia Mayor Mark D. Harris announced in the July, 2012 meeting of the Columbia City Council that private donations for American Flags for display on the streets of Columbia would be accepted. A donation of $25 dollars buys a high quality flag.

The flags will be flown in honor of our veterans and in celebration of our freedom and independence.

The city will need a continuously replenished fund to maintain over 200 flags which line the streets. Flags will be replaced as they no longer fit the standards of proper use.

Donations may be in any amount and may be given in honor of all veterans or specific ones. A list of those giving will be sent to the media from time to time. Those wishing to donate and remain anonymous may do so.Donations made for flags as of August 10, 2012 are::
