Coal truck fire on LBN between RS & Columbia, KY

Adair County Firemen, joined by Russell Springs Fire Department, Kentucky State Police, Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County EMS, Adair SAR, and Kentucky Department of Highways at the scene. Road was partially shut down, briefly. Damage to trailer enough to require replacement from Cumberland Valley Coal.

The Adair County Fire Dept responded to a Semi Tractor Trailer fire on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway around the 57-MM (eight miles east of Exit 49 intersection on Jamestown Street), in the eastbound lane.

The alarm time was 10:03pmCT, on Thursday night, August 9, 2012. The truck carrying coal was operated by Cumberland Valley Coal from Harlan, KY and experienced mechanical problems and caught the coal in the dump bed on fire.

There were 14 firemen on the scene for about 3 hours. Assistance from the Russell Springs Fire Dept, KSP, Adair Co. Sheriffs Office, Adair County EM, and Adair Search and Rescue, and KY Highway Department.
