Travis (Tater) Pyles, Columbia, KY (1943-2012)

He was a member of a large, respected North Adair County, KY, family. He leaves 24 direct living descendants. Mr. Pyles was a member of the Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church and was a former golf course greens keeper in Greenwood, Indiana

Travis "Tater" Pyles age 68 years of Columbia, KY passed away, Monday, July 30, 2012 at 12:04 AM at the Liberty Care Center in Liberty, KY after several months illness.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 1pmCT, at Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church, 1339 Barnett's Creek Road, Colulmbia, KY, with Rev. Barry Bradshaw the officiating clergy. The family request visitation after 4pmCT, on Tuesday, July 31, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment will be in Quinn Cemetery, 236 Tucker Warren Road, Knifley, KY.



Travis (Tater) Pyles, Columbia, KY (1943-2012)


He was born Saturday, July 31, 1943 in the Ella Community of Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Johnnie and Rosa Sallee Pyles of Adair Co. KY. He died Monday, July 30, 2012 in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 30 days.

Survived by his wife, Imogene Pyles, of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Three daughters: Jamie Reynolds of Knifley, KY; Teresa Mondie of Campbellsville, KY; and Betty Overstreet and husband William of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: Billy Pyles of Russell Springs, KY; Tommy Pyles of Pensacola, Florida; and Gleason Pyles of Columbia, KY

  • Four sisters: Shirley Brown of Columbia, KY; Norma Miller of Knifley, KY; KayWethington of Horse Cave, KY; and Joyce Giles of Knifley, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Twelve great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Pyles was a member of the Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church and was a former golf course greens keeper in Greenwood, Indiana.
