Big Day at the Adair County Fair & Horse Show today Saturday, July 9, 2012: 4-H/FFA Cattle Show - Corn Toss Tournament - Adair Co. Fair Horse Show 413 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY The Adair County Fair resumes today, Saturday, July 7, 2012, with the 4-H/FFA Dairy Cattle Show starting at 9amCT, the Corn Toss Tournament this evening (call Thomas Long 270-634-3172 to register). Tonight at 6:30pmCT, the Adair County Fair Horse Show, starting at 6:30pmCT with gate admission for the show $5. Sunday, July 8, 2012, will be Move-in day for the Myers International Midways, as they set up rides, amusements, and cook houses in Columbia. They will be traveling from Stanford, KY, from the Lincoln County Fair, Billy Pickett of Columbia, KY, said yesterday, before going to Stanford to meet the owners, long time friends of his. According to Pickett, there's going to be an incredible light show with the Ferris Wheel this year, making the traditional ride a show in itself. The ride was completely renovated in Myers' shop in Gibson, Florida, he said. For many, watching the midway move in and set up, with its military-like logistics and discipline, is almost as entertaining as the fair itself. Starting Monday, July 9, 2012, through Saturday, July 14, 2012, Fair Visitors pay $10 at the gate, get hand stamped at front gates, and ride all rides. The Midway Opens at 6pmCT each day July 9-14. CM will post major Fair events on the Events Calendar each day. Photo and item submissions from the Fair, sent directly to ColumbiaMagazine.com in jpg attachments with caption information in one email are welcome. Send to: edwaggener@gmail.com. Phone: 270-250-2730. We'll do our best to keep readers aware of any updates in schedules. -EWAdair County Fair catalogs available around town This story was posted on 2012-07-07 06:46:44
