She was a member of a distinguished, highly regarded Adair County, KY family. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and received an Associate Degree from Lindsey Wilson College. She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and was office manager for the Adair County Water District for many years.

Martha Collins Bell, 80, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:23amCT, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Laura Harris officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Libery Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4pmCT, Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the funeral home.



Casket Bearers: John Collins, Mark Bell, Gary Mullins, Greg Collins, Michael Grant, David Collins, and Travis Collins.

Martha Collins Bell, 80, Adair Co., KY (1931-2012)

She was born June 26, 1931, in Adair County, KY. She was daughter of the late Virgil and Virginia Smith Collins. She died Monday, June 25, 2012, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

She was a graduate of Columbia High School and received an Associate Degree from Lindsey Wilson College. She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and was office manager for the Adair County Water District for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers; Merlin, Bobby, Dooney and Dubin Collins.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years: Pat R. Bell of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Jennifer Bell of Lexington, KY

  • One son: Robert Bell of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters in law: Ramona Collins of Hopkinsville, KY and Evelyn Rowe of Jamestown, KY

  • Several other relatives and a host of friends
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lindsey Wilson College would be appreciated. These may be left at the funeral home.
