Hubert Odell Zimmerman, 84, formerly of Russell Co., KY

He was a widely respected retired police officer and a member of a prominent Russell County, KY family. He had served with the Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio as an police officer and was a veteran of the United States Army. His marriage to Vergie Zimmerman endured a noteworthy 64 years.

Mr. Hubert Odell Zimmerman, 84, of Somerset, KY, formerly of Russell Springs, KY, passed from this life on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at his home in Somerset, Pulaski Co., KY.

The funeral services for Mr. Hubert Odell Zimmerman are at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, Ky, at 12pm noon CT, Wednesday, June 13, 2012, with Rev. Herman Hamilton officiating and Special singing by Mrs. Willena Hamilton. Visitation is after 9amCT at the funeral home. Burial will be in Square Oak Cemetery, Russell Springs, KY.



Pallbearers: Ricky Johnson, Mathew DeHart, Sovel Stephens, Mike Popplewell, Mike Hornback, and Allen Sallee.

Mr. Zimmerman was a retired police officer with Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and served as a Sergeant in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his father Otha Zimmerman and mother Cynthia Zimmerman; brothers Rouzee "Shorty" Zimmerman and Willard Zimmerman; and sisters Margaret Green and Kathleen Stephens.

Mr. Zimmerman is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vergie Zimmerman of Somerset, KY, and the following:
  • Sisters: Maxine Stephens, Mary Johnson, and Jane DeHart, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • Brother: Junior Zimmerman, Russell Springs, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends
Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
