He was a member of a large, respected North Metcalfe County, KY, family. He was a sign artist for Rayburn Sign Company

Wayne Reed Pennington, age 57 of Center, KY, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Asbury-Center Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Sunday, June 10, 2012, and after 9amCT, Monday at the funeral home.



He was the son of Carl Reed Pennington of Center and Mazelle Carter Pennington of Glasgow.

Wayne was a sign artist for Rayburn Sign Company.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife Gayle Thompson Pennington of Center, KY, and the following:
  • His brother: Anthony (Sheila) Pennington of Center, KY

  • A sister in law: Linda Shuffett of Pierce, KY

  • Aunts and uncles: Jimmy Depp (Joyce) Pennington of Center, KY; Ray (Joyce) Pennington of Summer Shade, KY; and Buddy (Laverne) Carter of Edmonton, KY; Alice (Fred) Smythe of Hardyville, KY; Mary Thompson of Louisville, KY; Ernie (Peggy) Greer of Campbellsville, KY; Evelyn (Gary) Boult of Knifley, KY; and Shirley Cox of Campbellsville, KY

  • A great uncle: James Pennington of Campbellsville, KY

  • A nephew: Jeremy Shuffett

  • Three nieces: April Pennington, Ashley Pennington and Jennifer Lee

  • Great nieces and nephews: Allie Shuffett, Holden White, Hunter Nunnally, Kayden Lee and Shawn Lee

  • Several cousins and friends
