Floyd W. Poynter, Glasgow, KY (d. June 4, 2012)

He was the patriarch of a large, respected family. He leaves 24 direct living descendants. He was a retired farmer. His final earthly resting place will in North Metcalfe County, KY

Floyd W. Poynter age 75 of Glasgow, KY, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT, Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Lighthouse Church, 6080 Old Glasgow Road, Horse Cave, KY with burial in the Buck Hill Cemetery at Savoyard, in Metcalfe County, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the church.



He was the son of the late Sammie and Corine England Poynter. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Floyd (Linda) Poynter of Horse Cave, KY; and Johnny (Anna) Poynter of Glasgow, KY

  • One daughter: Judy (Robert) Poynter of Horse Cave, KY

  • Eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren

  • Four brothers: Bernice of Indiana, Gerald of Edmonton, Wayne of Griderville, KY; and Mitchell of Savoyard, KY

  • Two sisters: Nellie Taylor of Savoyard, KY; and Sue Cross of Sulphur Well, KY
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Lee Poynter and one son Ricky Lee Poynter.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
