Glad we can recycle batteries at the Adair Recycling Center By Vonnie Kolbenschlag I am pleased we have a recycling center. We recycle all items listed. I was happy to find out that I can also recycle batteries at the recycling facility off Campbellsville Street at 167 Service Road. The recycling center takes all size batteries and does not toss them in the dumpster. I was told "someone comes to pick them up for safe disposal." It seems so many items require batteries and I read that batteries buried in landfills leach harmful chemicals into ground water. Think about that! Also, our good mayor has told me that garbage fees that our city taxes pay could be less if people would recycle. Hauling a lot of garbage and paying for landfill space increase costs. Another suggestion: Wire hangers can be taken to the dry cleaners instead of being away. --Vonnie Kolbenschlag Comments re article 52366 Mr Sinclair requests citizens only bring recyclables to Center This story was posted on 2012-06-05 21:58:38
