Breeding AVFD on site with 3 trucks, 13 personnel South Adair fire department in Columbia 21 minutes after receiving call for assistance Related; Midnight fire at Arnold/Firestone Building does heavy damage By Ed Waggener When the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department got the call last night just before midnight they responded to the Midnight Fire in 21 minutes, with 3 units of equipment and 12 members of the department. "We knew about the alarm," said Brandon Harvey, Training Officer for the Department, which is headquartered 14 miles south of the scene, "so we were getting ready in case the alarm was the real thing."The BAVFD rolled into Columbia at just about midnight with Engine 5, Engine 1, and Tanker 2. Chief Terry Harvey was in command of the department, and brought with him Assistant Chief Timothy Jennings, Training Officer Brandon Harvey, Captain Chris Taylor, Engineer Kyle Cundiff, Engineer Ed Wigal, Firefighters Tracy McCarol, Patrick Loy, Jane Potts, Misty Odom, Jonathan Beams, Jonathon Burris, and Explorer Eric VanArsdale. "It's always a good experience - from a professional standpoint - for us to work with the Colulmbia/Adair County Fire Department," Brandon Harvey said. "It's almost as if the two departments become one to meet the challenge when we work together - and that was the case last night." He added, "Dad (Chief Terry Harvey) commented the same thing early this morning when we'd completed the mission," he added. This story was posted on 2012-04-30 11:38:17
