Lindsey Wilson Men's Tennis Claims MSC Tournament Championship Blue Raider Men defeat Campbellsville 5-1 for ninth straight MSC Tournament Championship. Will compete next for in the NAIA National meet in Mobile, AL, May 15-19, 2012 By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson College LEXINGTON, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team added the Mid-South Conference Tournament title to its resumetoday with a 5-1 win over Campbellsville University in the championship match at the Boone Tennis Center, in Lexington, KY. The Blue Raiders (18-5) add the tournament title to its regular season crown and earns the MSC's automatic bid into the national tournament next month. Lindsey Wilson has won the last nine MSC Tournament titles played. Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 2-1 lead following doubles play. Lindsey Wilson's Fabricio Morales and Gilles Cornelis notched the first Blue Raider point with an 8-1 win over Pontus Blom and Sebastian Marot in the second-seeded doubles match. Victor Saez and Marlon Dal Pont stretched the lead to 2-0 as the duo won the third-seeded match 8-4 over Zac Malyon and Terry Caven. Second-seeded Campbellsville (14-5) claimed its first point as Carlos Anton and Pablo Numbela battled back from a 5-2 deficit to beat Fernando Bogajo and Fredrik Graaner 9-8 -- 7-3 in the tiebreak. In the singles matches, it was all Lindsey Wilson as the Blue Raiders won the top three matches in straight sets. Pablo Vilches pushed the Blue Raider lead to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Numbela at the No. 3 singles. Bogajo quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Anton in the top-seeded singles match. Morales clinched the fifth team point and the championship with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Marot in the No. 2 singles match. The remainder of the matches were halted at the conclusion of the Morales-Marot match.
