Ruth Cunningham, W. Hwy 76, Russell Springs, KY (1920-2012)

She was a native of Metcalfe County, KY. She was a member of a large, respected family, with strong family ties in several counties of South Central Kentucky. She was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church

Ruth Cunningham, W. Hwy 76, Russell Springs, KY, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Somerwood Nursing & Rehab, Somerset, KY. She was 91 years of age.

The funeral service will be at 1pmCT, Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Gary Wheat the officiating clergy. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Friday, April 6, 2012, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Shannon Stephens, Martie Cassady, Nick Cunningham, Travis Gosser, Mitchell Cunningham, Joe Richards, and Jeff Hubbard.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church.

Ruth Cunningham, Russell, KY (1920-2012)

She was born Sunday, May 2, 1920 in Metcalfe County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Lena Martin Hubbard and the late James Walter Hubbard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hulen Cunningham and a son, J.D. Cunningham.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Hulen Cunningham Jr, and his wife Mary Lou; and Neddy Dean Cunningham and his wife Libby, both of Russell Springs, KY.

  • Five grandchildren: Stephanie Lyn (Marty( Cassady; Suzette Marie (Shannon) Stephens, Nicholas Dean (Emily) Cunningham, Mitchell (Judith) Cunningham, and Michelle (Travis) Gosser

  • Eight great grandchildren: Mollie Cassady, Macy Cassady, Maggie Cassady, Will Stephens, Walker Stephens, Logan Gosser, Landon Gosser, and Alyson Cunningham

  • One step great grandchild

  • One sister: Enola Catron, Columbia, KY

  • Two Brothers: Bobby (Pauline) Hubbard; and James Hubbard, all of Russell Springs, KY.
