Arlin Downey, Greensburg, KY; Adair Co. native (1938-2012)

Mr. Downey was a beloved member of a highly regarded, influential northwest Adair County, KY family. He was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and the owner of A and B Downey Lumber Company, Greensburg, KY, for many years.

Arlin Downey age 73 years of 5867 Columbia Highway, Greensburg, KY died suddenly Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 11 amCT at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital Emergency Room in Greensburg, KY, from injuries received earlier in a tree limb cutting accident on his farm in Green County, KY.

The funeral service will be Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:00 pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Rev. Jadell Janes and Rev. Jamie Bryant. Interment in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. The family requests visitation after 3pmCT on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Arlin Downey, Adair County, KY native (1938-2012)

He was born October 19, 1938 in Adair County the son of the late Marvin and Thirsie Keltner Downey. He died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in Greensburg, Green County, KY at the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Downey Jones on January 5, 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Bardin Downey of Greensburg, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Bridgett Downey-Lush and husband Charles of Leitchfield, KY

  • Two brothers: Jimmie Downey of Columbia, KY and Thomas Downey of Columbia, KY

  • Five sisters: Brenda Hatcher of Columbia, KY; Evon L. Legg of Columbia, KY; Zenith Hatcher of Hume, Illinois; Deana Stone of Tuscola, Illinois; and Geneva Holmes of Columbia, KY

  • He was "Grandfather" of Kristeena Marie Breeding of Columbia, KY
  • Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Hollis Downey, Kenneth "Buck" Downey and Coy Downey.

Mr. Downey was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and the owner of A and B Downey Lumber Company for many years.
