Candidacy: Chris Girdler files for 15th District Senate Seat

Pledges to be a New Voice

Somerset, KY - Chris Girdler, currently serving as Deputy District Director for Congressman Hal Rogers announced today that he is a candidate for the Kentucky State Senate District 15, representing Adair, Casey, Pulaski & Russell Counties.



"I am honored and humbled with the outpouring of support and encouragement from friends throughout the region and Commonwealth to seek a seat in the Kentucky State Senate." Girdler continued, "There were many factors that I considered with respect to this outstanding opportunity to serve my home community, first and foremost to my faith, my wife, and my daughter. After prayerful consideration and evaluating my passion for public service and helping others, I decided the time was right for me to enter the arena of public service."

Girdler is a seventh-generation Pulaski Countian who has a strong interest and desire to give back to his community. He is a graduate of Pulaski Southwestern High School and Eastern Kentucky University where he obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration. Following graduation, Chris worked as an Executive in the Houseboat Industry for many years before joining the office of Congressman Hal Rogers. He has served as the Congressman's aide since 2007.

In addition to his occupational duties, Chris is and has been involved in various community and civic activities. He serves on or has served on many boards including The Center for Rural Development Executive Board, Somerset-Pulaski Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Somerset Community College Foundation Inc Board of Directors, Mills Springs Battlefield Association Board of Directors, Pulaski County Educational Consortium, Republican Party of Kentucky's Executive Committee and various bank advisory boards. Girdler also served as President of the Pulaski County Lincoln Club for three years and is currently President-Elect of the 5th District Lincoln Club.

He is also a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset where he has served as a Trustee.

In recognition for all his efforts, Chris Girdler was the recipient of the "2007 Young Professional of the Year" presented to him by the Somerset-Pulaski Chamber of Commerce and most recently was awarded the prestigious "2010 Young Alumni of the Year" by Eastern Kentucky University.

"I look forward to listening to the concerns of the citizens of this very special region and I feel it is an honor and privilege to be considered for the office of Kentucky State Senator." Girdler continued, "I Pledge to be a New Voice in Frankfort and bring a business sense to state government. I pledge to be accessible, open and willing to listen to any and all concerns and be an active ambassador for our region. I am a social and fiscal conservative willing to work with anyone interested in helping others, uniting our region and Commonwealth, and finding solutions to problems. I ask the great people of Adair, Casey, Pulaski & Russell for their support and vote."

Girdler also thanked Senator McGaha for his time in the Kentucky State Senate, "I admire and thank Senator McGaha for his years of public service."

Chris Girdler, Somerset, KY, has filled for the Republican nomination for the 15th Kentucky Senate Seat which includes, Pulaski, Russell, Casey, and Adair Counties. Senator Vernie McGaha is the current office holder, but had announced he would not to seek re-election.
