She was the beloved matriarch of a large Adair County, KY family, She leaves 38 direct living descendants. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Columbia, KY, and a homemaker.

Velma Marie Wilkerson, 85, formerly of Columbia, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Metcalfe Health Care Center in Edmonton.She was born October 25, 1926 in Yosemite, Kentucky to the late Felin and Alma Brachett Durham.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 10amCT, at Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Scott Ezell officiating. Burial will be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, and after 9amCT, at the church on Wednesday.



Velma Marie Wilkerson, Adair County, KY (1926-2012)

She was born Monday, October 25, 1926 in Yosemite, Casey County, KY. She was the daughter to the late Felin and Alma Brachett Durham. She died Saturday, January 21, 2012, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 27 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilkerson on May 18, 2007.

She was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene and was a homemaker.

Survivors Include the following:
  • One son: Thomas H. and wife Electra Wilkerson of Okachobee, FL

  • One daughter: Karen Dial of Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Helen Brackett of Liberty and Faye Carman of Cincinnati, OH

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • Twelve great great grandchildren
