Mrs. Janice Fay Williams Melton, age 64, of the Gaines Hill Community in Cumberland County, Kentucky passed away Friday December 30, 2011 at the Cumberland County Hospital., Burkesville, KY.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday January 1, 2012 at 1pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Alvin Sells and Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Burial will follow in the Gaines Hill Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. The family will receive friends after 5pmCT. on Saturday, December 31,, 2011 until the service time on Sunday.



She was born in Putnam County, Tennessee, on Friday, March 14, 1947. She was the daughter of Willie Estes and Mary Louise Smith Williams. She died Friday, December 30, 2011, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 16 days.

She was a homemaker, and worked for 17 years as a factory worker at Sutton Shirt Corporation, a member of the First Baptist Church in Celina, TN and attended Pleasant Hill Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles, Joe Smith, Jr., Dorothy Smith Butler, Arvil Smith, Robert Williams, Oather Williams, Fred Williams, Ethel Williams Smith, Roy Smith, Ross Smith, Jim Smith, Charles Smith, Milton E. Williams, Betty W. Roach, Bessie W. Key and Mary Westmoreland.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Merle Melton of Burkesville, KY, and the following:
  • Her sister: Willie Mary Williams Day of Celina, TN

  • Her aunts and uncles: Eva Nell Allen, Betty Sue Scott, Marie Groce, Gene Smith, and Fred Smith.

  • Her niece and nephew: Tina Day Kelley, and Tony Day

  • Several other nieces and nephews
