She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. She was from a large family, and leaves 17 direct living descendants.

Bernice Taylor Downey was born February 24, 1938 in Hart County, KY to the late Joe and Della Mae West Taylor. She departed this life Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY, having attained the age of 76 years, 9 months and 28 days.


Bernice Taylor Downey had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband: Elliott Downey, two brothers: Edsel and Rondall Taylor, one sister: Elsie Shelton and two grandchildren.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Michael and Barry Williams of Texas

  • Two daughters: Catherine Williams of Houston, Texas and Debra Austin of Louisville, KY

  • Two brothers: Raybourn Taylor of Greensburg, KY and Marshall Taylor of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister: Betty Joe Amos of Clearwater, Florida

  • Six grandchildren

  • Five great grandchildren

  • Two great- great grandchildren
The family chose cremation. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W. Court Street, Greensburg, KY, is in charge of the arrangements.
