Chester (Bill) Wise, Taylor Co., KY (1923-2011)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded family with many relatives in Adair, Taylor and Marion Counties, KY. He leaves 28 living descendants. He was a grocery store owner and operated Campbellsville Upholstery for a quarter of a century. He had been a volunteer at C & S Mission Store for 28 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Chester "Bill" Wise, 88 years old, of Campbellsville, KY, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral mass will be at 11amET/10amCT, Monday, November 28, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 425 North Central Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. Jim Reinhart, Burial willl be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY. Viisitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT, Sunday and 7amET/6amCT, until time for the service Monday at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY.



Chester (Bill) Wise, Taylor Co., KY (1923-2011)

Chester "Bill" Wise, was the son of the late Omer Wise and Lizzie Jane Hardesty Wise. He was born in Marion County, Kentucky, on Sunday, January 21, 1923. He died Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

He and his wife, Dorothy, were owner and operator of Wise's Grocery for seven years and owner and operator of Campbellsville Upholstery for twenty-five years before his retirement. He was a volunteer at C & S Mission Store for some twenty-eight years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for many years.

He united in marriage to Dorothy Thompson February 22, 1947. She preceded him in death May 3, 2004.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Ron Wise and wife, Sue and George Wise and wife, Donna of Campbellsville, KY

  • Son-in-law: Larry G. Cox of Campbellsville, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Melissa Ellis and husband, Alfred of Dunnville, KY; Pat Watson and husband, Mike of Knifley, KY; Mackenzie Wise of Charleston, South Carolina; Lorna Bush and husband, Greg of ElkHorn, KY; Ben Cox and wife, Shannon of Mannsville, KY; and Max Wise and wife, Heather of Campbellsville, KY

  • Twenty great-grandchildren: Jacob Ellis, Ethan Ellis, Seth Ellis, Moriah Ellis, John Samuel Ellis, Julia Ellis, Ruth Ellis, Sarah Ellis, Micah Ellis, Caitlin Watson, Anna Beth Watson, Payne Watson, Tyler Bush, Mollie Bush, Grayson Wise, Jackson Wise, Carter Wise, McLean Wise, McKenzie Cox, and Keeton Cox

  • One sister and one brother: Aileen Harrison and G. L. Wise of Campbellsville

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers: Nannie Livers, Opal Mae Wise, Maudie Rafferty, Earl Wise, Carl Wise, and Donald Wise.
