Public is invited to special Thanksgiving service at Ransdell Special music by Dr. Wesley Roberts, Songs of Praise and others will be followed by a Thanksgiving message by Virginia Flanagan By Linda Waggener News from Campbellsville University The public is invited to join Campbellsville University students, faculty and staff for a very special Thanksgiving service in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Avenue, Campbellsville, KY Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10amET/9amCT. As the sanctuary fills, a moving prelude will be played on the historic Farrand & Votey organ by Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor in the CU School of Music. Special music will also be provided throughout the service by Songs of Praise, the Gospel choir led by DeMarcus Compton, and with hymns of Thanksgiving directed by Dr. Tony Cunha, associate dean and professor of music. The message of Thanksgiving will be delivered by Mrs. Virginia Flanagan, current special assistant to President Michael V. Carter. She is the former director of CU's tech center, former director of the Kentucky History Center, former project manager for the Center for Rural Development and former PR and alumni director for CU. The annual Thanksgiving event is made possible by a grant from the Reuben and Jewel Robertson Worship Endowment Program with a purpose which includes encouraging the rediscovery of Biblical and historical roots of Christian worship.
