Bicycling Adair Co. founders complete Barnett Institute training Barnett Bicycle Institute presents Gary and Diane Rose with certificates on c0mpletion of courses in bicycle assembly and maintenance; in addition Gary Rose earns certificate in Spoked-Wheel Lacing from Colorado Springs school Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com COLORADO SPRINGS (2011-10-27) - Gary and Diane Rose of Columbia, KY, have earned the Certificate of Successful Completion in Bicycle Assembly & Maintenance from the Barnett Bicycle Institute, the first to offer independent bicycle-mechanic courses in the bicycle industry. The Roses are co-founders of Bicycling Adair, Columbia and Adair County's bicycling advocacy and have been riding for all of their lives. Gary and Diane have completed a forty-hour in-depth training consisting of both classroom and hands-on training in multiple Bearing Units, Drive Train Components, Wheels, Seat and Handlebar adjustments, Derailleur and Shift Lever installation and adjustment, and the Brake Systems including disc-brake installation and adjustment. In addition, Gary Rose, completed an additional three-hour hands-on course on Spoked-Wheel Lacing, earning him an additional Certificate of Successful Completion. "At BBI we teach that Bicycle Mechanics is not an art, but a science," said John Barnett founder of Barnett Bicycle Institute. Whether tightening a bolt or making a bearing adjustment, we believe measurement quickly achieves consistent and accurate results. We strive to eliminate subjectivity in every way. This means that you don't have to 'get it,' or have 'a knack.' We believe we are unique in this philosophy," "Our commitment to help our graduates learn after leaving the classroom is unmatched. By providing them with written materials in excess of the subject matter covered in class, and by providing them with detailed worksheets that guide them through all procedures down to the last detail, they will have us at their side for years after completing a BBI course," said Derek Lenahan, BBI Instructor. Barnett Bicycle Institute is Approved and Regulated By The Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational Schools and the Instructors are certified by the Colorado Department of Higher Education Private Occupational School Board.
