Columbia needs historic bridge Ralph Roy Waggener says Bridge could bypass the bypass to get motorists directly to KY 55 South, and might be completed as early as 2055 if made priority by KY Department of Highways Comments about KDE offering KY 80 Bridge for free By Ralph Roy Waggener If we could get this historic bridge that the state is offering for free we could build a bypass of our own. We could put it across Russell Creek and if we are not allowed to use it for a bypass it would be a good walking path just like Louisville, KY, to Jeffersonville, IN. Just think how much money we could save the state by putting this bridge across Russell Creek because the Russell is not as wide as the Ohio! Or with a little work we could connect our present bypass to the Parkway and bypass the bypass to KY 55 south. We could get the Kentucky Department of Highways to design a road that would go to the historic bridge and in 2055 have the ground breaking celebration. We could help the economy by having the state hire a lot more people to do a 30 year environmental study for the placement of this road. Just think of the years of employment of engineers to do a 15 year study of the route to our historic bridge. - RALPH ROY WAGGENERThe writer, Ralph Roy Waggener, is editor/publisher of the influential It's Just for a Smile News, on newsstands twice monthly in Adair County and points in Taylor, including Taylor Regional Hospital. -CM This story was posted on 2011-10-25 11:37:02
