Tiffany Kessler: Against legal sale of alcoholic beverages

Tiffany Kessler writes:
I for one am offended by Mr. Armitage's comments about Adair County living in the "dark ages". If he so badly wants to enjoy a drink with his meal he has every right to MOVE to Campbellsville and enjoy all he wants. There are not enough proponents for legalizing alcohol in Columbia (thank God)...it's time to leave the topic alone. -TIFFANY KESSLER
Thanks, Tiffany, for sharing your opinion, wrongheaded as we think it to be. We'd a lot rather have Wayne Armitage living in Columbia, KY than let him move away. (In fact, it wouldn't be too hard to find 150 sorry native born Adair Countians we'd trade for another just like Wayne Armitage, any day.)

Are there enough proponents for legalizing alcohol?

When leaders in all fields are asked, privately, we've found that the overwhelming majority favor legal control for the sale of alcoholic beverage, just as we've found that, asked privately, they overwhelming are for city-county merger, utilities mergers, and, to a lesser extent, legal marijuana production and sales.

Most we know think capital punishment or banishment from the face of the earth is too good for meth producers and dealers.

By the way, too many pro-legal control are too chicken to state their opinion in public, with a notable exception being leaders like former Mayor Pat Bell.

That's a shame. Thanks for having the courage to state your ideas, Ms. Kessler, most of which, especially the 'Made in America' Christmas gift one, are the best.
