She was a member of a large, respected Casey County family. She was a farmer and a caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of the Church of the Firstborn.

Leona C. Propes, age 75, of East KY 70, in Yosemite, Casey Co., KY, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2pmET/1pmCT, Saturday, October 8, 2011, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Marvin Lane and Mitch Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from6pm-9pmCT, Friday, October 7, 2011, at the funeral home.

Leona C. Propes, Yosemite. A native of Adair Co., KY (1936-2011)

She was born Monday, July 13, 1936, in Adair Co., KY. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Nellie Rich Cooper. She died Sunday, October 2, 2011, in Yosemite, Casey County, KY, at the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 19 days.

Leona was a member of the Church of the Firstborn.

She was a caregiver for the elderly, and a farmer.

Survivors include the following:
  • She was the mother of Naomi "Poppy" Adams, Hansel Wesley Propes, Shirlene Beldon, Bobby Joe Propes, Martha Nell Chesser, John Edward Propes, and Jackie Lee Propes.
  • She was a mother to TC Propes, Johnny Propes, Lillian Martin, Adell Johnson, and Anna Katherine Propes (deceased).
  • She is also survived by brothers, Charles Edward Cooper and William "Buddy" Cooper; sisters, Frances Zirkel and Brenda Begley; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Propes; brother, Calvin Cooper; and sister, Evona Shelton.

McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville RD, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
