New Idea. New KY 61: Dakota Meyer Road from Columbia to Greensburg, KY

Inspired by Fentress Co., Tennessee and Sgt. York, Rickie Williams suggests way to honor Dakota - one which would allow the Adair County Veterans Memorial Highway, the Bypass, to honor All Veterans, (including Dakota Meyer) of Adair County, a new KY 61 to tie Adair and Green Counties together in honoring Dakota Meyer -CM

By Rickie Williams

Sgt Alvin C. York of Pall Mall, TN received the Medal of Honor for his actions in France during World War I. He got more than a Bypass. He got a long section of highway, a school AND a movie! And that's just what I am aware of...there may be more.

Concerning Dakota, Green County and Adair County both lay their claims to the young man to the point he is probably feeling torn apart in a tug-of-war.

Why not build a fire under the politicians, get the money appropriated, construct the long promised rebuild of KY 61 between Columbia and Greensburg, and name the new road in honor of Dakota Meyer.

Coincidentally, the highway would pass at least near the areas of his grandfather's and his daddy's farms. - Rickie WilliamsNote: Such a road would also pass by the Jane Todd Crawford Farm and be near the Historic Skin House Branch area. -EW
