Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Steve Burton, Coach, ACHS Golf On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, the ACHS Boy's Golf Team captured the Heartland Conference Championship at at Campbellsville Country Cub, 3064 Hodgenville Road, Campbellsville, KY, in dramatic fashion. At the end of the 18 hole tournament, Adair and Taylor Counties were tied with team scores of (318). The teams went into a 5 man sudden death playoff. The result was the Indians coming away with a one shot victory for their 3rd tournament title of the year. Van Giles captured the Individual Championship with a score of (75) and Alex Durham finished with a (78) good enough for 3rd place honors in the tournament. Daniel Rarey (82), Riley Grant (83), and Trey Garmon's (91) rounded out the scoring for the Indians. Coach's Critique: This was a huge win for us. It is always the goal to start gathering momentum heading into your Regional Tournament and we started down that road today. To win the Conference Tournament on Taylor County's home course is a great feeling. This definitely gives our kids the confidence that we can compete with the best on any course. Van was tremendous all day long and Alex was steady as a rock once again. I believe our kids are poised to start making another run at a Regional Championship. -COACH BURTON.
