LWC Volleyball defeats Trevecca Nazarene 3-0 Action in Scott Jones Classic in Nashville continues with 2 LWC Matches today. Details below and in CM Events scheduled for today, September 3, 2011 (Clicks to Events for current day) By Dan White, LWC Assistant Sports Information Director NASHVILLE, TN - Limited to just a .066 team hitting percentage, the Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, TN volleyball team had a rough opening night as Lindsey Wilson College used 11 kills and two blocks from freshman Sarah Anderson to sweep the Trojans 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-23) on Friday at Mark R. Moore Gymnasium, 333 Murfreesboro RD, Nashville, TN. Playing in Trevecca Nazarene's own Scott Jones Classic, Lindsey Wilson played like a team with something to prove. Led by Anderson's .526 hitting percentage on an 11-for-19 offensive showing with just one error, the Blue Raiders tallied a .337 mark as a team. On 92 swings, Lindsey Wilson committed just 11 errors and got kills from eight different players. The Trojans opened each set gaining the lead within the first four points, but never threatened late as Lindsey Wilson coasted in each set, although the Trojans made a short rally in the final set that came up short. Lindsey Wilson freshman Sierra Wilkerson finished with nine kills on 15 swings with just one error for a .533 percentage and her classmate Kirsten King tallied eight kills. The Trojans were led by Brittany Eller with eight kills and Sarah Ansley and Jenna Robertson chipped in with seven kills each.Junior Andrea Taylor handed out a match-high 32 assists for the Blue Raiders, while her classmate Alyssa Cuthbert finished with four. A group of players put together a strong defensive effort for the Blue Raiders with King coming up with a team-high 10 digs. Taylor and Sarah Anderson finished with nine digs each and senior Rachael Anderson finished with seven. The Trojans Halley Wiggins paced them with 22 assists and Shelby Sorce was the defensive leader with 10 digs. Next Lindsey Wilson Volleyball vs. Mid-Continent of Mayfield, KY and Cumberland of Lebanon, TN at Mark R. Moore Gym, 333 Murfreesboro RD, (MAP), Nashville, TN.Lindsey Wilson returns to action at the Scott Jones Classic on Saturday with another two-match day.
