Billy Joe Fudge: Another voice for slow eating 'We must all slow down just a little, take a deep breath, think before we speak, plan before we act, look before we leap and walk before we run.' -BJF Comments re article 46346 Teresa Kindred Do you know how long your child has to eat By Billy Joe Fudge Ms. Kindred is correct about eating at school. I have experienced the same thing while eating with grandchildren at school but I think the idea of multi-tasking, early achievement, and the standardizing of activities for students and our educational systems from the Atlantic to the Pacific are just the tip of the iceberg that is ripping the hull of our cultural Titanic. Perfection (the highest attainable standard) is gained through patience, perseverance, and practice. We must all slow down just a little, take a deep breath, think before we speak, plan before we act, look before we leap and walk before we run. Our families, our children's education, our culture, our spiritual well-being, our understanding, our ability to think creatively, our ability to appreciate the natural world around us, our peace, our health and indeed our sanity are being eroded by the alarming pace at which we as individuals and we as a society are allowing ourselves to live. Great revelations are most often preceded by quiet times of introspection and years of pondering, great acts are most often preceded by years of patient practice, and great people are most often filled with wisdom gained by years of climbing many monumental mountains and crossing cavernous canyons one mountain and one canyon at a time. -BIlly Joe Fudge This story was posted on 2011-08-21 09:38:57
