Erika Brady receives arts award Popular host of Barren River Breakdown to receive Governor's Media Award News from Western Kentucky University BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Kentucky Arts Council has announced that Western Kentucky University's Erika Brady, longtime producer and co-host of Barren River Breakdown on WKU Public Radio, is the 2011 recipient of the Governor's Media Award, one of nine annual Governor's Awards in the Arts. Dr. Brady is a professor in the Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology at WKU, and engages in a wide range of activities supporting traditional music and other performance arts throughout the state. The award is presented in recognition of an individual or organization's commitment to bringing the arts to the people of Kentucky. Barren River Breakdown regularly features music by regional musicians, and has done much to further the appreciation of Kentucky's rich music traditions.. "We're thrilled to see Erika recognized in this way" said WKU Public Radio Manager Peter Bryant. "She volunteers her time as a labor of love. We all benefit from the enthusiasm and expertise she brings to each show.". Gov. Steve Beshear will recognize the recipients at a public ceremony on Oct. 20 in the Capitol Rotunda, Frankfort..
