Ms. Victoria Pike: Confessions of Hotel Miller brat

Just caught frog legs were her favorite delicacy at the hotel coffee shop, prepared by a great all-time Adair County chef, Ceola Rowe - a true Adair County treasure
Inspired by Ms. Patty Nall's reminiscence: Comments re article 46025. Patty Rowe Nall: Lots of great memories of Hotel Miller

By Victoria Pike

I was another little brat who frequented the hotel when Hack Rowe was the operator.

My brother Robert lived at the hotel and I ate many meals cooked by Patty's aunt, Miss Ceola.

She would cook frog legs for me that Robert would bring in. They were my favorite meal.

They tell me I would sit there with my feet swinging in the air, and eat frog legs until I was full as a tick. Also, I was known to hum as I ate. Not sure of the tune but I do remember how good they were. Miss Ceola was a treasure.

And then there was Hack, who, until this day is a great friend and my chief financial advisor; and also, husband of the wonderful food pantry lady, Miss Cynthia Rowe.

He knew politics inside and out in those days and still does. I consult him when political things tend to puzzle a greenie like me.

He usually has the answer.

Thanks, Patty, for bringing back so many wonderful memories of the Miller Hotel. -Victoria Pike
