Stephanie Caldwell: A modest proposal for skateboard park We don't have to have something that is the best of the best all the time. Sometimes it is wiser to get something to do for now until we can do better. - Stephanie Caldwell By Stephanie Caldwell Guest commentary A few years back there was some talk of a skateboarding park, but from my understanding the funds were an issue. While I understand that funds are a problem for many things that the members of the community would like to see, I don't understand why something as simple as a half pipe and a bit more concrete in one of the existing parks couldn't be a good compromise. I know there were concerns for insurance as well, but does the city not already have insurance for the pool, and other outdoor play equipment at the city park? We don't have to have something that is the best of the best all the time. Sometimes it is wiser to get something to do for now until we can do better. --Stephanie Caldwell This story was posted on 2011-07-22 14:31:55
