Clarice M. Ashby age 91 years of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 5:42amCT, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, KY

The funeral service is Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Allen Durrett the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation is after 9amCT, Thursday.



Clarice M. Ashby, Adair Co., KY (1920-2011)

She was born on February 24, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Bryant and Maggie Blankenship Gilpin of Adair Co., KY. She died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Bowling Green, Warren Co., KY, at the age of 91 years, 3 months, and 29 days.

She was the widow of Prentice N. Ashby who preceded her in death on June 17, 1977.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Stephen L. Franklin of Columbia, KY; Linnie Franklin of Jeffersonville, IN; and Doug Franklin of Louisville, KY
  • Four half brothers: Junior Gilpin of Columbia, KY; Hayden Gilpin of Jeffersonville, IN; George Gilpin of Greensburg, KY; Jimmy Gilpin of New Albany, IN

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Several great grandchildren

  • And several other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by three children Ray Franklin, Betty Franklin and Carolyn Lay and one half sister Ethel Long.

She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and had worked at General Electric in Louisville, KY.
