Duo Co. Annual Meeting, 2011, draws 430 members to RCHS Moment of silence honors memories of David Davenport, board member; and Marilyn Sparks, wife of board member Joe Sparks By Ramie Hutchison News from Duo-County Telephone Duo County Telephone welcomed 430 of its members into the Russell County High School Gymnasium, on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Prior to the meeting the members received their annual patronage dividend checks in the mail. The total dividend payout this year was nearly $800,000, making the total payout for the past 23 years over $16 million. The meeting was called to order at 7pmCT by Duo County Telephone's Legal Counsel, H.K. Cooper. The minutes of last year's meeting were approved and the trustees were introduced. They are; Dr. James E. Monin of Jamestown (President), Joe Sparks of Adair County, Bill Norris of Cumberland County, Sharon Hill of Jamestown (Secretary), Douglas Butler of Cumberland County, and Jerry D. Roy of Russell Springs. A moment of silence was held for the late board member, David Davenport. David was a beloved member of the Board of Trustees and will be greatly missed. The passing of Marilyn Sparks, board member Joe Sparks' wife, was also recognized. Following that, Tom Preston, CEO of Duo County Telephone, gave a report on the status of operations and introduced new services and promotions, such as Duo County's Lightspeed fiber optics expansion. Following the adjournment of the meeting, names were drawn for the door prizes. The grand prize winners were; Stephen Vaughan ($100 Special Cash Drawing), Marilyn Coffey (50" Plasma HDTV) and Bonnie Robertson (Motorola Xoom Tablet). This story was posted on 2011-06-10 05:03:12
