Joe Hare speaks out for keeping Joe Johnson name for LL Park Mr Johnson gave a big part of his life to the youth of Adair County Comments re article 44794 Reader asks about name change on Little League Park By Joe Hare Guest Commentary I was involved with the Little League Baseball program when it was moved from the old Fairgrounds field to the new facility where it is at today. Mr Johnson gave a big part of his life to the youth of Adair County and as a member of the board after it had moved to its present location, we (the board) felt it only fitting that Mr. Joe Johnson be honored by having the park named after him. I realize it has grown and is a great asset to the community. I hope the present management will reconsider and reinstate the the name that was installed by a board of directors many years ago. If my memory serves me correctly when it was named it was without Mr Johnson's knowledge until it was already done and we had a program for the announcement. If anyone else ever surpasses Joe Johnson in the number of years and hours spent serving the youth of Adair County then I would hope someone would name a park after them. Please return the name as it was intended by the board of directors many years ago. To many it will always be Joe Johnson Little League Park. s/Joe Hare This story was posted on 2011-06-06 16:02:07
