Until now only our closest friends and relatives have been aware that my beautiful wife of 20 years has breast cancer. On Wednesday (2011-05-11) Michele will be having surgery to remove the cancer and hopefully eliminate the possibility of it returning or spreading. Chemotherapy is planned in the weeks to come.

We would both like to be more involved with Relay for Life coming up on the 20th and have hopes we can participate in some way.

Michele is strong and in very good condition and should breeze right through all this. She is very optimistic and ready for the fight and eager to get this behind her. Still though we must rely on the God of Heaven to see her through. All prayer on her behalf is much appreciated.

I will be off work until May 23 to help care for Michele. She is only expected to be in the hospital overnight so we have hopes she will be home on Thursday.

We are not in need of any assistance as Michele has pretty good insurance through her work at Amazon.com. We are very grateful for that. -Mark Hale
