Adair Co. PRIDE Spring Clean-up TODAY, Saturday, May 7, 2011. May be biggest ever cleanup, but more are still needed. Volunteers will gather at the parking lot behind the Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY for a kickoff, sign up, passing out of safety vests, pep talk. There will be coffee, orange juice, and doughnuts available. At 11amCT, the volunteers will report to the Roadside Park, 2310 Hwy 55 South RD, Columbia, KY, Columbia, KY, for a cookout. Many are doing the work as fundraisers for their organizations, while, at the same time, beautifying the county in time for spring and summer tourist seasons, reunions, homecomings, and, especially, as a patriotic gesture for Memorial Day. Whether a group is already registered or not, every able bodied Adair Countian is needed today. Among the over 35 groups already registered, which includes over 425 volunteers, are: Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Leader Edward Benningfield. 15 volunteers working on Mt. Carmel Road.
