Katherine Roach, Student Body President of Greenville, SC School She's the granddaughter of H.W. and Ruby Roach of Columbia, KY Katherine Roach was elected Student Body President at Shannon Forest Christian School in Greenville, SC, on Friday, April 29, 2011. Katherine is the daughter of Hal W. Roach and Beth Hogue, and is the granddaughter of long-time Adair Co., KY, residents H.W. and Ruby Roach of Columbia, KY. Katherine began her campaign by declaring her candidacy in mid-April. She had one opponent. During the weekend of April 22, she was busy making campaign posters and mounting a Facebook campaign. In addition, she personally talked to many students during the week leading up to the voting which took place on the Friday. On Thursday, she handed out a homemade chocolate chip cookie baked by her mother to each voting student. The cookie was placed in a bag with a replica of the Shannon Forest varsity letter and stickers declaring Vote for Katherine. Students in grades six through eleven participated in the voting. On Thursday, her only opponent withdrew from the election and she went into Fridays voting unopposed. On Friday morning, she made a speech to the student body via the schools media system and won the election. She will serve as Student Body President for the 2011-2012 school years. Her duties will include leading student council, reading the school news each morning and representing the school at various school functions and events. This story was posted on 2011-05-03 07:05:28
