Westlake Hospital Auxiliary report for April 18, 2011 meeting Auxiliary plans to re-wallpaper Hospital Cafe By Sue Stivers, Public Relations Chairman News from Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary The Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary met Monday, April 18, 2011 at 6:30pmCT at the Hospital Board Room, 901 Westlake DR, Columbia, KY for their monthly meeting. President Margaret Sparks called the meeting to order by welcoming the members and guests. Minutes read by Sharon Harris; treasurer's report by Evelyn Phelps The minutes were read by Secretary Sharon Harris and approved. Treasurer Evelyn Phelps gave the financial report. Cards go to Charles Marshall, Louise Brock and Betty Flaynik Get Well Cards were signed and sent to Auxiliary members Charles Marshall, Louise Brock, and Betty Flaynik. We sincerely wish them a speedy recovery and hope they will soon be back to the meetings. Card received from Charles and Yvonne Marshall A card was read from Charles and Yvonne Marshall expressing their thanks and appreciation to the Auxiliary for their acts of kindness. Scrub sale raises $300 President Sparks reported that $300.00 was made from the Scrub Sale that was held on March 21 and 23, 2011 in the hospital lobby. The funding will be deposited in the treasury to help in future purchases for the hospital. Yard and Bake sale will be Friday, May 13, 2011 Plans were made for a "Yard and Bake Sale" that will be held Friday, May 13, 2011, in the Hospital Lobby. No items of clothing will be accepted. All Auxiliary members are encouraged to have the price listed on each item they donate for the sale. The public is invited to attend. This is another fund raising project for the Auxiliary. Hospital Cafe will get new carpet and wallpaper Plans were made to redecorate the Hospital Cafe by purchasing new carpet and wallpaper. Hopefully this can be done in the near future. Sharon Harris gives special thanks Sharon Harris gave special thanks to the Hospital Auxiliary members for coming to her retirement party and also for the beautiful gift. We wish Sharon much enjoyment as a retiree. Rick Brown was guest speaker The Auxiliary was delighted to welcome Rick Brown, Interim CEO for Westlake Regional Hospital as guest speaker. Mr. Brown gave an update on the Hospital...improvements being made, needs of the hospital regarding new updated equipment, etc. He also expressed his appreciation to the Auxiliary for the outstanding job they do in supporting the hospital financially and in other ways. Following his informative report, the Auxiliary expressed thanks to Rick for meeting with them and sharing his time and knowledge. Sue Stivers, Shirley Grider and Wanda Bardin on nominating committee President Sparks announced that it would be time to elect officers for the Auxiliary at the May meeting. Sue Stivers, Shirley Grider and Wanda Bardin were appointed to the nominating committee and will report at the next meeting. Shirley Grider entertains with readings Shirley Grider entertained the members with some fun and inspirational readings including the poem entitled, "The Visitor". Barbara Williams is new member The Auxiliary welcomed Barbara Williams as a new member. Barbara will also be working part time in the Gift Shop. Thank You Barbara...We appreciate you! Hostesses were Wanda Bardin and Shirl Moore Hostess for the meeting were Wanda Bardin and Shirl Moore, who served a variety of delicious food to those in attendance. Delwin Blair, Rick Brown, Margie Coffey, Shirley Grider, Sharon Harris, Lila Loy, Evelyn Phelps, Shirley Reliford, Margaret Spars, Sue Stivers and Barbara Williams. May meeting is Monday, May 16, 2011 The May meeting will be held Monday, May 16, 2011, beginning at 6:30pmCT in the Board Room. Hostess will be Lila Loy and Shirley Reliford.
