Short pursuit leads to arrest after fleeing vehicle hits tree

SPRINGFIELD, KY - On Friday April 15, 2011 Tpr. Fred Cornett was dispatched to 1839 Simmstown Road in Washington County in reference to a collision. Post 15 received a call that a drunk driver had driven a car through a fence and the landowner had the vehicle blocked in.



When Tpr. Cornett arrived at the scene he attempted to get the operator, 22-year-old James D. Nall of Georgetown, KY out of the car. but he refused. Nall then attempted to flee in the vehicle. Tpr Cornett narrowly avoided being struck by the vehicle and after a short vehicle pursuit Nall crashed his vehicle and was arrested without further incident.

Nall was charged with DUI 1st/Aggravated, Fleeing/Evading 1st, Fleeing/Evading 2nd, No seatbelt, Wanton Endangerment 1st, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest, No Insurance and Failure to produce Insurance Card. Nall was lodged in the Marion County Detention Center. Tpr. Cornett continues to investigate.
