Robert Thomas (RT) Henderson, a native of Greensburg, KY and a resident of Winston-Salem, NC, passed into the arms of his Savior at his home on Friday, April 1, 2011.

Graveside service will be at Greensburg Cemetery, Greensburg, KY, at 1pmCT, Monday, April 4, 2011, with Rev. Gleason Bloyd the officiating clergy. Visitation is Monday at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W. Court ST, Greensburg, KY from 5amCT until time of funeral. Interment in Greensburg Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Honor Guard.



Pallbearers: Larry Lemons, Ricky Osborne, Wayne Heidel, Doyle Jones, Steve Jones,and Cory Jones

Honorary Pallbearers: Green County High School Graduating Class of 1951He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bethel Jones Henderson, and the following:
  • His daughter: Vonda Henderson

  • His granddaughter: Denise Tucker

  • His great grandson, Charlie McSwain

  • His sister and brother-in-law: Rachel and Larry Lemons

  • His brother in law:William Jones; and brother in law and sister in law, Doyle and Carolyn Jones, and sister in law; Lucille Henderson

  • Several beloved nieces and nephews

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lillie A. Henderson, his sister, Edith Franklin and brother, Maxie Henderson.

    RT was known through the community for his easy laughter, compassionate heart, and most of all, his love for his family. He was a veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, RT spent 35 years working as a Communications Supervisor for CSX Railroad before retiring in 1992.

    Upon retirement, RT and his wife relocated to Winston-Salem to be near their daughter and granddaughter. RT was an active member of the Masonic Lodge as a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of Oldtown Baptist Church, a dedicated Christian, and an active member of his church, serving as a deacon as well as several capacities over the years.

    He was surrounded by his wife, daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandson when he died peacefully, among those who knew and loved him the best.
