City of Columbia metal, appliance disposal is April 28 & 29, 2011

Mayor Mark Harris and City of Columbia, KY PRIDE Coordinator Rhonda Loy have announced metal and appliance recycling event, in conjunction with the PRIDE Spring Cleanup, at the Adair County Fairgrounds, 413 Fairground ST, Columbia, KY, 7am-4pmCT, Thursday, April 28, 2011, and 7am-12pm noon CT, Friday, April 29, 2011.

Residents are reminded of the follow restrictions:


  • No sealed containers, paint cans, or buckets with anything inside
  • No tanks (acetylene, oxygen, propane or anything sealed)
  • No steel cables.
  • No capacitators
  • No fence that has the post still attached
  • No hazardous material
  • No light fixtures or ballasts
  • No televisions
  • No trash
  • No microwaves
Mayor Mark Harris encourages everyone in Columbia to take advantage of this program to help keep the community clean. This project will provide our community with the opportunity to collect and dispose of unwanted metal items and old appliances at no charge.For more information contact City Hall at (270) 384-2501. -Rhonda Loy, City of Columbia PRIDE coordinator
