2010 ACHS Yearbook receives 15 awards at WKU competition

The 31st annual Western Kentucky University Mark of Excellence yearbook, newspaper, and broadcasting competition was held on Friday, March 18, 2011. The awards ceremony took place at the WKU main campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where the 2010 Adair County High School yearbook, the Chieftain, entitled "Anyway You Look At It," received an impressive 15 awards in the AAA category.

Awards received were:
  • First Place: Best Overall Yearbook Advertising and Best Overall Yearbook Layout and Design
  • Second Place: Best Overall Academic Section, Best Overall Organizations Section, Best Overall Theme Development, Best Sports Action Photo, Best Cover, and Best Overall Photography
  • Third Place: Best Overall Yearbook Copy, Best Overall Sports Section, and Best Overall Yearbook
  • Honorable Mention: Best Candid Feature Photo, Best Color Spread, Best Feature Story, and Best Overall Student Life Section
The 2010 Chieftain staff was Emily Ramage (Editor), Dea Brandon, Madison Brashear, Charles Breeding, Maranda Carter, J.D. Coomer, Ashley Crawhorn, Kyle Curry, Emily Ellis, Joseph Grider, Chelsea Hatcher, Kayla Joseph, Sarah Keltner, Jordan Martinez, Logan Vanarsdale, Michael Waggener, Brandy Wheeler, and Waydon Yates. Mr. Chad Parnell serves as the Chieftain adviser.

The 2011 ACHS Yearbook Staff traveled to WKU's Bowling Green campus for the Mark of Excellence Competition on March 18, 2011. The staff accepted 15 awards for the 2010 yearbook.
