Fresh Strawberries a big hit with Adair County students

Adair County students were treated to healthy servings of fresh strawberriestoday (Wednesday).

"This was an FFA fundraising project from which everybodybenefited", said Carol Roy, Director of Food Services for Adair County Schools.

"The high school FFA chapter made some profit and all our students got to enjoyfresh, ripe strawberries with their lunch. It was a win-win situation."

Pat Reliford, Cafeteria Director at John Adair Intermediate School said that whenit comes to fresh strawberries, it's important to plan ahead. "When they're thisripe and tasty, our students usually want extras."

One cup just isn't enough: For Lexy Harp, a third-grade student at John Adair Intermediate School, one cup of fresh strawberries just wasn't enough. "Strawberries are my absolute favorite fruit", she said. Lexy is in Ms. Shirley Pfefferman's class and the daughter of Tina Harp of Columbia.
