Build it and they will come: If there were ever any doubt that Columbia/Adair Countians will take advantage of recreational opportunities if clean, well maintained parks are provided, it was laid to rest today. The basketball and picnic areas of the City Park at the Fairgrounds were filled and the parking lot was full, as perhaps 100 people were taking advantage of the springlike weather, Sunday, March 13, 2011. The Columbia/Adair Parks & Recreation Board meets for the first time with its full nine member board appointed, Monday evening, at 5pmCT, at the Adair County 911 Center, 107 N. High ST, Columbia, KY. The meeting is open to the public.

Tyler Sinclair left and Drew Smith, airborne, right were providing an exciting BMX exhibition Sunday evening, March 13, 2011, in the Adair Annex Parking lot and on Monroe Street. Downtown provides a fairly good place for the young men to practice, save for a few motorists who drive in a threatening manner. The nearest BMX parks are in Russell Springs and Bowling Green, they said. There are competitions, and Smith has taken part in one. The weekends offer the best times to ride, they said. Sinclair works full time at a day care center; Smith is an employee of Stephens Pipe & Steel in Russell Springs, KY.
