Hospital Auxiliary News, report, Feb. 21, 2011 meeting

The Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary met Monday, February 21, 2011, at 6:30pmCT at the Hospital Cafe, 901 Westlake Drive in Columbia for their monthly meeting. President Margaret Sparks called the meeting to order by welcoming the members and guests.




Sharon Harris reads minutes

The minutes were read by Secretary Sharon Harris and approved. Treasurer Evelyn Phelps gave the financial report.

Get well card sent to Charles Marshall

A Get Well card was signed and sent to Auxiliary member Charles Marshall, a patient at Taylor County Hospital.

Expression of thanks from ER, WPC

Expression of thanks were received from ER Department and Westlake Primary Care for equipment and supplies that were previously purchased by the Auxiliary.

No Eating in Chapel signs to be erected

A discussion was held on cleaning the chapel being an on-going concern due to people eatingin the chapel. A sign will be posted "No Eating In The Chapel." Hopefully, this will be a reminder that food is not allowed in the chapel.

Scrub Sale will be March 21, 2011

Announcement of the Scrub Sale was made that the event would take place Monday, March 21 and Wednesday, March 23rd in the hospital lobby. The public is invited to attend. Funding from the sale will be used to benefit the Hospital.

Jewelry, bake, and yard sales planned for near future

Plans for a Jewelry sale was discussed and hopefully a sale can be held in the near future. Again, this will be another funding raising event for the Hospital. Also plans were made to have a bake and yard sale in May. Date will be announced.

Plans to redecorate Hospital Cafe made

Plans were made to redecorate the Hospital Cafe by purchasing new carpet and wallpaper. Hopefully this can be done in the near future.

Sharon Harris gives thanks to those who attended retirement party

Sharon Harris gave special thanks to the Hospital Auxiliary members for coming to her retirement party and also for the beautiful gift. We wish Sharon much enjoyment as a retiree.

Rick Brown, Interim CEO is guest speaker

Guest speaker was Rick Brown, Interim CEO of Westlake Regional Hospital. He stated he was very impressed with the caliber and ethical quality of the people working at the hospital. Mr. Brown is currently assessing the concerns and opportunities, making positive changes to the hospital which will result in a better and stronger hospital for the patients and Community.He emphasized his open-door policy and if the Auxiliary had any questions or concerns, to please let him know. Mr. Brown is planning to attend all of the Auxiliary meetings, if possible.

Special thanks to hostesses

A "Special Thank You" to Rick Brown for giving of his time to share with the Auxiliary members. Hostess for the evening were Delwin Blair and Sharon Harris who served delicious refreshments to Collene Bardin, Wanda Bardin, Louise Brock, Mr. .Rick Brown, Margie Coffey, Shirley Grider, JoAnn Harris, Sharon Harris,Vicki Miller, Shirl Moore, Evelyn Phelps, Shirley Reliford, Margaret Sparks, and our welcomed visitor Maggie Janes.

Next meeting is March 21, 2011, at Hospital Cafe

The next meeting will be held March 21, 2011 at the Hospital Cafe. Hostess will beLouise Brock, Vicki Miller and Shirley Grider. The "Welcome Mat" is always out for new members. For information on membership call President Sparks at 384-4139 or any Auxiliary member. - Sue Stivers
