Barred owls heard at 6:02amCT, Feb. 19, 2011, above Bull Run Second day of Great Backyard Birdcount is underway:With help of internet, it's getting easier to identify birds by their calls: Barred Owls at All about birds By Barbara Armitage Adair Co. Garden Club. (270) 250-2730 Officially the first bird of the day today at Tucker's Station goes to Wayne, again. At 6:02amCT he was treated to an early morning conversation between the two Barred Owls that moved in to the trees at the edge of our property last year. With the help of the internet it is getting easier to identify the birds by their calls. Birds like Owls can be hard to spot but if you can identify them by their call you can Count them. To listen to each bird's call follow the link on Columbia Magazine to fill out your data sheet on line. Complete the general information section first then when you enter your actual Count click on the bird name. This will take you to more information on this species including recordings of the bird's call. This story was posted on 2011-02-19 07:07:26
