By Stephanie Smith
News from Hosparus of Central Kentucky

Last year, Hosparus cared for 37 patients and their families in Adair County. And, that number continues to grow, according to Annette Jones, volunteer coordinator, for the organization.

Hosparus will offer a volunteer training in Adair County based on the most convenient time for those interested who call the organization.Stephanie Smith, Director of CommunicationsHosparus - Barren River, Central Kentucky, Louisville and Southern Indiana (502) 719-8925 (office); (502) 744-5488 (cell)

Jodie Cooper, a Hosparus social worker and Adair County resident, says, "Volunteers are an invaluable part of the patient care team and offer much needed support for our patients and their families."

Depending on their area of interest, volunteers help with administrative duties, bereavement care, patient and family support, respite and development/fundraising. Hosparus carefully selects volunteers and provides them with comprehensive training specially designed to meet the needs of hospice patients and families. Hosparus volunteers must have available transportation, complete training and an application process.

For more than 30 years, Hosparus, a fully accredited non-profit organization, has provided care, comfort and counseling for people facing life-limiting illnesses in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Hosparus cares for more than 5,000 patients and their families each year.
