Remembering Lonnie Popplewell: One of best men ever

'He led the prayers at auctions. He was, without a doubt, one of the greatest auction ringman who ever lived.' -Chris Wilson
Obituary: Lonnie Popplewell, 61, Adair Co., KY

By Chris Wilson

It is with great sadness we are sending you this email. For those auction goers who knew him, you will never forget him. Our Christian friend, ringman and fellow Auctioneer Lonnie Popplewell passed away on Thursday night, January 20, 2011.

He suffered a sudden abnormal heartbeat that led to a blood clot and then a massive stroke.

He was one of the best men I have ever known.

He led our prayer at the beginning of each auction when we started having a blessing at our auctions in 2010.

For those who knew him and saw him in action, he was, without a doubt, one of the greatest ringmen whoever lived.

I got to talk to him prior to his ambulance ride and he said he loved us and he was not afraid.

If anyone ever exemplified the "Golden Rule", he did. Lonnie worked with Golden Rule - Wilson Real Estate & Auction for over 10 years and had been in the business long before that.

He will be greatly missed.-Chris Wilson
