Obituary: Elbert O. McGaha, 89, Adair Co. native

He was a member of a large, highly regarded Northeast Adair Co., KY family. He was a member of the Church of God and was a retired machinist.

Elbert O. McGaha, 89, Florence, KY, formerly of Adair Co., KY, passed away on January 01, 2011 at Florence Park Care Center, after an illness.

Services were held Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at noon at Stith Funeral Home in Florence, KY with burial afterward in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.



Elbert O. McGaha, 89, Adair Co., KY, native (1923-2010)

He was born Tuesday, July 3, 1921 in Adair Co., KY. He was the sone of the late Allen and Alta (Bryant) McGaha. He died January 1, 2011, in Erlanger, KY, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred C. McGaha on August 29, 1997 and son Daniel P. McGaha in May, 1994.He is survived by the following:
  • One son: James D. (Janet) McGaha of Warsaw, KY

  • Two daughters: Linda R. (Charles) Smith of Independence, KY, and Bonnie K. (Scott) Haney of Ft. Mitchell, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Three step-grandchildren

  • Fifteen great-grandchildren

  • Seven step-great-grandchildren

  • One brother, Leonard Waymon McGaha of Cincinnati, OH
He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Millard McGaha, Asa McGaha, Loren McGaha, Thera McGaha, Leslie McGaha, Dewey McGaha, Alfred B. McGaha, Elnora (McGaha) Rogers and Hattie (McGaha) McGaha.

Mr. McGaha attended the Church of God and was a retired machinist. He was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
